Acclimatisation

Give Your Body Time

Ladakh is a high-altitude region, and proper acclimatisation is very important.

Leh is located at around 3,500 m, while Uley is higher, at around 4,000 m. The air is thinner, and the body needs time to adjust before any active experience.

We strongly recommend spending at least 2 nights in Leh before travelling to Uley, especially for winter expeditions, trekking, cycling, or longer wildlife experiences.

Simple Acclimatisation Tips

Drink plenty of water and warm fluids.
Eat light and warm meals.
Rest properly on arrival in Leh.
Avoid alcohol and smoking during the first 48–72 hours.
Walk slowly and avoid overexertion.
Consult your doctor before taking any altitude medication.
